3, 2, 1! Noisetap 2.0 Blasts Off

May 22, 2007

We’re happy to announce the launch of the new and improved Noisetap.com. Noisetap—an online music community featuring user-generated content, reviews and news—has become one of our favorite projects here at Cottonblend Headquarters. We wanted to make the site even better, and that’s what we’ve done. New features include:

  • “Send to a Friend” option that allows you to send a post link directly to your friends
  • New categories (with new animal icons!) including Jazz, Classical and General
  • “Related Artists” feature that allows you to tag your post with artist names the post mentions
  • General layout redesign: top users are now listed right on the homepage

Tech-savvy folks (a.k.a. geeks) may wish to know we’ve spiffed up our operations behind the scenes. Highlights include:

  • New ranking algorithm that rewards users more accurately for their activity
  • Strategic content caching to enhance performance
  • Better session management
  • Strong cookie encryption
  • Bookmarklet availability for easy posting on Noisetap
  • Native UTF-8 unicode supported for all posts, features, reviews and comments
  • General API enhancements

Please hop on over to Noisetap.com, admire the new digs, and post a story or two while you’re there.

(Please note: No animals were harmed in the making of this blog post. Thank you.)

Post title/body character limit

April 11, 2007

Some of you may have noticed that in some browsers (notably Safari) the character limit check doesn’t fire off when you post a new message. This is noticed mostly when text is copied and pasted into the input fields.

We have fixed that bug and character limit is now enforced.

If you do notice a weird behavior in the “Post a Message” section, let us know. Please make sure you mention what browser/OS/versions you were using at the time.

Thanks!

~The Noisetap team

Voting Matters

March 26, 2007

One of the easiest ways to help your ranking on noisetap is to plus or minus other users’ posts. If you like the post, plus it, if you think it’s horrid, minus it. Keep doing that and you’ll see your ranking crawl up to the top.

Of course posting a new rave, rant, report or rumor will get you there even faster ;-)
